Media Opportunity: Live Interview of Local President, Spokesperson and local members participating in the dawn service and parade.
Perth, WA – [24/04/2024] – In a poignant moment of unity and remembrance, members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Perth are set to participate in this year’s ANZAC Day dawn service, marking the first time in Western Australian history that a Muslim leader will lead prayers alongside the Christian chaplain in the official commemorative ceremony.
The service, which honours the sacrifices of fallen heroes, war veterans, and serving members, will see members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community laying a wreath and joining the parade to pay tribute to those who have served the nation.
President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Perth, Mr. Anjum Qaisrani, expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “It is a momentous occasion for us as Australian Muslims to be able to participate in the ANZAC Day dawn service in this manner. This marks a significant step forward in the inclusive and diversity of our society. We are grateful that Australia, as a secular country, embraces all faiths and allows us to stand alongside our fellow Australians in honouring our heroes.”
Mr. Qaisrani further highlighted the historical fact noting “Muslims have a long history of supporting ANZACs. Many Muslim nations, including Indian Muslims, served alongside ANZACs in both World Wars. This participation in the ANZAC Day dawn service symbolizes the progressive nature of our society, where people of all faiths and backgrounds come together in solidarity and respect.”
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has a strong tradition of service and loyalty to the country, with many members of wider Australian Muslim Community actively serving in the Australian Armed Forces, contributing to the nation’s defence and security.
We invite members of public and media to attend and witness this historic moment of unity and remembrance.
