President’s speech on trends affecting workplace relations

Fair Work Commission

President Justice Adam Hatcher has delivered a speech to the Australian Industry Group PIR Conference in Canberra on trends affecting industrial and employment relations, and the Commission’s response.

In his speech the President discussed our increasing workload, including growth in general protections and unfair dismissal matters, and the emerging impact of generative artificial intelligence on how some people prepare and lodge applications.

He also outlined our reform program, including the MyFWC portal, changes to case management processes and new guidance on the use of GenAI in Commission proceedings. The President also covered recent and upcoming major cases, including cases about gender-based undervaluation, working from home, gig work and road transport.
