The Australian Government has published the third edition of Delivering Ag2030, detailing its commitment to supporting the agricultural sector’s ambition to become a $100 billion industry by 2030.
Minister for Agriculture and Northern Australia David Littleproud said the newest edition of Delivering Ag2030 outlines the strengths and achievements of the agricultural industry and the challenges ahead.
“Since the 2019-20 Budget, the government has committed over $5.5 billion in direct support for Ag2030 measures across the seven themes of the Delivering Ag2030 plan,” Minister Littleproud said.
“The third edition of the booklet highlights a number of key government achievements that have provided real, direct benefit to Australian farmers as they work towards their goal.
“Despite the challenges of the last two years, including bushfires, drought, floods, COVID-19, and global trade disruptions, the agriculture sector has grown in value.
“Australia’s farmers have shown they are resilient and pragmatic, but more needs to be done to support the agriculture sector to meet future challenges.
“The Agriculture Biodiversity Stewardship package is being delivered to reward farmers for the stewardship of their land.
“Carbon and biodiversity trial projects are being run and there is a National Stewardship Trading Platform to help farmers find buyers for their carbon and biodiversity.
“And we’ve introduced legislation to create the framework for a national voluntary market for biodiversity on farms.”
