The Hills Shire Council will submit applications to the Department of Planning and Environment nominating a range of new projects, with a total value of $65.7 million, for funding under Round 3 of the Accelerated Infrastructure Fund (AIF).

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi, said the projects selected will focus on providing infrastructure for new release areas to support housing growth.

“Fast tracking infrastructure upgrades in and around our new release areas is a key focus of Council,” Mayor Gangemi said.

“Council has previously received funding with a total value of $61.36 million under Round 1 and 2 of the AIF that has assisted us to deliver critical infrastructure projects across our Shire, including the very popular Balmoral Road Reserve and the critical Hezlett Road upgrade,” he said.

“The Hills is one of the fastest growing regions in NSW, and I look forward to submitting these additional priorities for consideration.”

“I am extremely grateful, on behalf of our residents, for the support provided by the NSW Government to deliver projects that will build our communities of the future,” he said.

The seven projects that have been nominated for submission are:

  • Annangrove Road upgrade – Windsor Road to North of Edwards Road in Rouse Hill
  • Bridge over Killarney Chain of Ponds – Boundary Road in Box Hill
  • Commercial Road – McCombe Avenue to Withers Road in Rouse Hill
  • The Water Lane – between Annangrove Road and Nelson Road in Box Hill
  • The Water Lane – between Annangrove Road and Grandhill Parkway in Box Hill
  • Culvert Crossing B – Terry Road near Brindle Parkway Reserve in Box Hill
  • Culvert Crossing F – Terry Road near Box Hill Town Centre in Box Hill

“Council has made a commitment to fast-track the delivery of any successful projects to support our growing population sooner,” Mayor Gangemi said.
