Property and other offences in Cooktown, QLD

A boy has been charged in relation to a number of property and other offences in the Cooktown area.

Around 7.25pm on the evening of January 11, Cooktown police responded to a call for assistance. A witness reported a person had been inside a home and had left through a sliding glass door.

Police and detectives conducted patrols of the surrounding areas.

Officers then received reports of similar incidents nearby.

As a result of investigations, police located a 16-year-old boy who has since been charged with two count each of sexual assault, and burglary, three counts of enter dwelling with intent, one count each of assault with intent to commit rape, serious assault of a person, unlawful use of motor vehicle and drive without a licence.

He has been remanded in custody.
