Detectives from Gympie Criminal Investigation Branch have charged four teenagers following a series of alleged break and enters in the Gympie area.
Police will allege between December 2022 and January 2023, two 16-year-old Southside boys, a 13-year-old Gympie girl and an 18-year-old Gympie man were involved in a number of break and enters of businesses in the CBD and surrounds.
A 16-year-old Southside boy has been charged in relation to 26 offences, including 16 counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, two counts of attempted enter premises and commit indictable offence, one count of possess by night instrument of house breaking, two counts of stealing of a vehicle, one count of evading police, one count of obstruct police officer and three counts of unlicensed driving.
He is due to appear before Gympie Children’s Court.
An 18-year-old Gympie man was charged in relation to 19 offences, six counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, one count of attempted enter premises and commit indictable offence, one count of endangering particular property by fire, one count of stealing of a vehicle, one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, one count of wilful damage, one count of obstruct police officer and one count of possess utensils or pipes etc that had been used.
He was also charged with one count of carnal knowledge with or of children under 16, three counts of Indecent treatment of children under 16, one count of making child exploitation material and one count of possessing child exploitation material following a search warrant in Gympie yesterday (January 7).
He has been remanded in custody and is expected to appear before Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday 9 January.
The second 16-year-old Southside boy and 13-year-old Gympie girl were dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
Police appeal to anyone with information in relation to property crime offences to contact police.
