Property’s rising stars shine at 2021 WA Future Leader Awards

Amongst a crowd of emerging property leaders, the 2021 Stan Perron Future Leader of the Year was crowned at the Property Council of Australia’s WA Future Leader Awards on Friday night. The award is named after Australian Property Hall of Fame member Stan Perron and sponsored by Perron Group.

Jack Varney, Analyst, Hesperia took home the coveted prize among a high-quality field of finalists. He also won in two other categories, Development and Construction, and New Professional of the Year.

Mr Varney, who studied Mechanical Engineering and Finance at the University of Western Australia, began his career at Argonaut Securities before joining Fini Group, now a part of Hesperia, in 2019 as an Analyst. His contribution to industry in that time has included critical financial modelling and analysis for Hesperia projects, as well as assisting the marketing, sales and leasing activity for Hesperia’s Victoria House development in Shenton Park and Knutsford Townhouses in Fremantle.

Keeping with the spirit of Stan Perron’s own legacy, judges were impressed by Mr Varney’s insightful analysis of the challenges and opportunities of developing property through a pandemic and his focus on on-the-job learning. Mr Varney credited his early career success to being able shadow and interact with industry leaders to gain real time insight about every aspect of the development cycle.

Other award winners included:

  • Joshua Abbot, Aurecon – Design Award
  • Sai Paladi, MinterEllison -Advisory and Transaction Award
