Provisional driver detected travelling 122km/h in 70km/h zone, NSW

A provisional driver has had his licence suspended for six months after he was allegedly caught travelling more than 50km/h above the marked speed limit in Sydney’s south yesterday

About 12.35pm (Thursday 28 May 2020), officers from Botany Bay Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling General Holmes Drive, Mascot, when a Toyota Estima van was allegedly detected travelling 122km/h in a sign posted 70km/h zone.

Police stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver, a 19-year-old man, who is a P2 provisional licence holder.

He was issued an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and an infringement for not displaying P plates.

His licence was suspended for six months.
