PSOs arrest man after attempted robbery in Sunshine

Protective Services Officers arrested a man following an alleged robbery in Sunshine last night (18 August).

The victim, a 28-year-old Sunshine North man was walking along Harvester Road about 11.40pm.

A 21-year-old man approached the victim and made demands for him to hand over his mobile phone.

When the victim did not comply, the offender alleged punched the victim to the back of the head.

A 48-year-old Harkness man who was nearby and witnessed the incident, drove his car towards the men and the offender fled on foot.

The Harkness man then drove the victim to a nearby railway station where PSOs assisted the man.

Whilst talking to PSOs, the victim spotted the alleged offender and PSOs took chase and arrested him.

The man of no fixed address has been charged with attempted robbery, intentional cause injury and unlawful assault.

He has been remanded to appear at Sunshine Magistrates’ Court today.
