Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) at Mareeba following a vegetation fire in the vicinity of the Kennedy Highway around 2.45pm.
Emergency services are currently at the scene.
The exclusion zone encompasses Kennedy Highway, with Seary Road to the north, Henry Hannam Drive to the south and Lockwood Road to the east.
The Kennedy Highway is closed between McIver Road and Victory Road and diversions are in place via Ray Road.
