Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) due to an ongoing incident in Jubilee Pocket, Whitsunday.
The PSPA was declared just after 4pm and an exclusion zone includes 100 metres encompassing surrounding streets including: Shute Harbour Road, Penticost Street and Cedar Crescent and Jubilee Pocket Road.
Police were called to an address within the exclusion zone around 11.45am where a threat to public safety was identified resulting in the PSPA declaration.
Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and those within the exclusion zone are asked to remain indoors until further notice.
