Public Information and Inquiry Centre closes, NSW

The Public Information and Inquiry Centre (PIIC), which was activated to support the bushfire response in NSW, has now closed.

The New South Wales Police Force would like to thank the volunteers from the following organisations who kindly performed operations in the centre; Red Cross, Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service, volunteer Rescue Association and St John Ambulance. Whilst the PIIC is now closed, volunteer staff remain on standby should it be required to open again.

Members of the public in fire-affected areas are reminded to avoid dangers such as damaged powerlines and the possibility of asbestos in fire-damaged properties.

It is also advisable to continue to monitor emergency websites, including www.rfs.nsw.gov.au, as well as your regular media news sources for updated advice and warnings.
