Public place shooting, NSW

Police are investigating a public place shooting at Fairfield West overnight.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command were called to the home on Thorney Road after two men armed with firearms threatened the 59-year-old resident shortly before 6pm (Tuesday 24 December 2019).

The front door was slammed shut before a shot was heard and the men ran from the scene.

Six adults, the 59-year-old man, his wife and their two sons and their partners, were in the home at the time but were not injured.

Police responded to multiple calls to Triple Zero (000) and established a crime scene; they’ve conducted a canvass of the neighbourhood with the assistance of the Dog Unit and have seized a shell casing for forensic examination.

Investigators are appealing for public assistance to identify two men they believe can assist with their inquiries. Both men are described as wearing dark clothing with their faces partially covered and were carrying firearms.

Anyone who sees these men are urged not to approach them, and instead contact police immediately.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Fairfield City police or Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
