Pursuit ends in arrest 29 May, South Australia

A man has been arrested after he allegedly crashed into a police car.

At 9.30am on Friday 29 May, Western District patrols spotted a black Commodore on Salisbury Highway at Salisbury. Police attempted to stop the car, however the driver refused to stop and it took off from the patrol, last seen heading north on Salisbury Highway.

About 45 minutes later a member of the public reported seeing a black Commodore with front end accident damage being driven erratically on Holbrooks Road at Underdale.

Western District patrols located the car and pursued it north on South Road where it turned onto Pym Street at Dudley Park. Police followed the Commodore onto Hotchkiss Crescent where it stopped and reversed at speed, colliding into the front of the police car.

The driver and passenger of the police car received minor injuries as a result and were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The pursuit was terminated for safety reasons. The vehicle with front end damage, was last seen heading east on Cowley Crescent.

About 10 minutes later police received a report that a black Commodore sedan had been abandoned on a train line at Cormack Road, Dry Creek.

Police will allege the driver attempted to flee the scene and jumped a fence in the industrial area. A patrol in the area located the suspect on Railway Terrace where he was arrested without incident.

The driver, a 28-year-old man from Port Adelaide, was not seriously injured. He is expected to be charged with acts to endanger life, failing to stop, engage in a police pursuit and other driving offences.
