- This investment will help advocacy organisations provide greater support to people with disability, their families and carers.
The Crisafulli Government is strengthening the voice of Queenslanders with disability, delivering a major funding boost to advocacy organisations.
Organisations providing advocacy for Queenslanders with disability will receive more than $5.9 million in additional funding in 2026–27 under the Queensland Disability Advocacy Program.
After a decade of decline under Labor, this investment will expand the reach of organisations supporting people with disability, their families and carers across the State.
The Queensland Disability Advocacy Program provides independent advocacy services that help people understand their rights, navigate complex service systems, address discrimination, build their capacity for self-advocacy and access support through legal matters.
Minister for Families, Seniors and Disability Services and Minister for Child Safety and the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence Amanda Camm said disability advocacy was essential to ensuring Queenslanders with disability could fully participate in their communities.
“Disability advocacy plays a vital role in empowering people with disability to have their voices heard and ensuring they can access the services and supports they need and deserve,” Minister Camm said.
“This additional funding will strengthen the Queensland Disability Advocacy Program, enabling advocacy organisations to support more Queenslanders right across the State.
“This investment will also provide vital support for families and carers, while helping protect Queenslanders with disability from unfair treatment, violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation.
“The Crisafulli Government is committed to fostering safer communities where Queenslanders of all ages, abilities and backgrounds can thrive and reach their full potential.”
