Quick Response Grant Awarded

Leeton Shire Council

At its May Extraordinary Council meeting, Council awarded a Quick Response Grant to the value of $500 to the Murrumbidgee Police District to assist with the provision of childcare services required for the delivery of the Leeton Indigenous Mentoring Program.

Council’s Quick Response grants are provided for the purpose of supporting activities that arise unexpectedly, with limited notice, outside the window of the twice-yearly Community Grants Scheme.

The Murrumbidgee Police District has facilitated the program which will train up a group of Indigenous Community leaders to work with local families and local police to reduce the incidence and impacts of domestic violence and youth offending.

The Leeton Early Learning Centre will provide an early childhood educator to look after course participants’ children at a total cost of $500.

The course will run for a six-week period (2.5 hours per session) every Thursday at the Leeton TAFE Campus.
