Rafat Alameddine and John Ray Bayssari wanted for conspiracy to murder – Criminal Groups Squad

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate two men wanted for an alleged murder conspiracy and their involvement in an organised criminal activity under Strike Force Newnham.

In November 2019, officers attached to the Criminal Groups Squad established Strike Force Newnham to investigate the members and associates of two high-profile Organised Criminal Networks (OCNs) and their alleged activities across Sydney.

During the investigation, detectives uncovered evidence that one of the criminal networks was conspiring to murder a rival gang member – a then 24-year-old man.

As a result of inquiries into that conspiracy, strike force detectives today (Thursday 15 August 2024), sought arrest warrants for two men believed to be offshore in Lebanon.

Rafat Alameddine and John Bayssari, both aged 33, are wanted by virtue of an outstanding arrest warrant for conspiracy to murder.

The men are described as being of Mediterranean / Middle Eastern appearance, 180cm – 190cm tall, of solid build with dark brown hair and possible facial hair.

Anyone who sights either man, or has any information relating to their whereabouts, is urged not to approach them but call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Anyone with information that may assist investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
