Rainfall expected for western parts of Western Australia over weekend

BOM

Issued: 4:20pm WST on 24 March 2022

Ex-tropical Cyclone Charlotte weakened to a low-pressure system Thursday morning, well off the north-west coast of Western Australia.

The low-pressure system moved south today and will move towards the south south-east on Friday but is likely to remain off-shore.

Although the system will no longer be named a tropical cyclone, it may result in gale force winds around southern and western parts of the circulation over the weekend.

There will be a general increase in rainfall across the western parts of Western Australia over the weekend and next week as the system drags tropical moisture south. There is the chance of 20-40mm daily rainfalls from thunderstorms and rain.

Communities are encouraged to keep up to date with the latest forecasts and warnings on the Bureau’s website and BOM Weather app and to follow the advice of emergency services.
