Ray Meagher joins Cancer Council’s Gifts in Wills campaign

Best known for his decades-long role as Alf Stewart on Home and Away, Ray Meagher is helping shine a light on the lasting impact a gift in Will can have – funding vital cancer research, prevention initiatives and support services for people affected by cancer.

“Cancer has affected so many people I know and love, and it was an honour to be asked to be part of this campaign,” Ray said.

“I want to spread the message that leaving a gift in your Will, of any size, is something all of us can do. It can make an incredible impact for Cancer Council and future generations affected by cancer.”

Tackling cancer takes all of us

Almost one in two Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85. While cancer outcomes in the country are among the best in the world, there is still more work to do.

Tackling cancer takes all of us. From funding research that leads to better treatments and outcomes, to helping prevent cancer and supporting people through diagnosis and treatment, we can all play a part in reducing the impact of cancer for all Australians.

Leaving a gift in your Will is one way to be part of that progress. One quarter of Cancer Council’s funding comes from the generous gifts supporters leave in their Wills, making Gifts in Wills a vital source of funding.

Cancer Council Community Ambassador Keri has chosen to leave a gift in her Will in honour of her parents who died from cancer. For her, it is a way to turn personal loss into a lasting contribution to a cause that has impacted so many lives

“Cancer’s not going to go away, but there’s always research that can be done, “Keri said.

“There’s not one person I can think of who hasn’t been affected by cancer, either directly or through someone they love.”

Leaving a lasting impact

Leaving a gift in your Will is a personal decision, and every gift – regardless of size – can help make a meaningful difference. By choosing to support Cancer Council, you can help drive progress in cancer research, strengthen prevention efforts and ensure people affected by cancer can access the support they need.

Every one of us has a role to play in tackling cancer. A gift in your Will is an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to this shared effort, helping Cancer Council continue its work for generations to come.
