Record-breaking crowd witnesses Adelaide Crows’ AFLW Grand Final triumph

South Australia has proven it is the heartbeat of the national AFL women’s competition by turning out a record-breaking crowd for the Adelaide Crows’ courageous grand final victory today.

Premier Steven Marshall congratulated the Crows on their second premiership in three years.

“The players were fantastic and the crowd today was just awe-inspiring,” Premier Marshall said

“More than 53,000 spectators got behind this magnificent team and they were not disappointed.”

The Marshall Government has been a strong supporter of the Crows in the AFLW and provided a $275,000 funding injection for this season.

Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing Corey Wingard said the Marshall Government was fiercely committed to women’s sport at the community levels, as shown through its Grassroots Football, and Netball Facility Program.

The program, which will unlock up to $24 million of funding, has a focus on female and family-friendly infrastructure.

“Superstars, such as Chelsea Randall and Erin Phillips, are inspiring young South Australian girls and women to take up an active lifestyle and dream of one day emulating their heroes.

“Some of those were probably watching today and may look to start playing sport inspired by what they saw.

“We are determined to ensure they have the best possible pathways and facilities available to them for that journey.”
