A LIVE classic car auction was converted to an online auction within an hour today due to the latest government COVID restrictions announced.
“We are extremely proud to have been able to completely turn around our classic car live auction to an online-only live stream auction within a matter of an hour,” said Mr. Lee Hames, Chief Operations Officer for Lloyds Auctions.
“This was in fact one of our biggest classic car auctions ever with some highly anticipated cars including Kerry Packers Jaguar, Glenn Seton’s Championship Winning Ford and an extremely rare, limited build Holden VN Group A SS no #002 of just over 300 ever built,” Mr. Hames continued.
“We came to our viewers LIVE from our loungerooms and there was definitely a warm mutual feeling within our team with the livestream attaining a strong viewership throughout the entirety of the auction,” Mr. Hames continued.
The auction achieved many price records throughout the 9-hour auction.
Kerry Packers Jaguar was declared unreserved 48 hours prior to auction and sold for $217,000 under the hammer.
Glenn Seton’s Australian Touring Car Championship-Winning Ford reached over half a million dollars which wasn’t enough to get it sold, however negotiations between the top bidder and the vendor should see it sold over the next 7 days.
A 1988 VL Walkinshaw commodore sold for over $250,000.
