Some of Australia’s biggest and most iconic music acts will descend on Sunraysia in November this year after confirmation today of the 2023/24 Red Hot Summer Tour’s Mildura date.

Jimmy Barnes, The Living End, Birds of Tokyo, Pete Murray, Kasey Chambers and Mahalia Barnes and the Soulmates will perform in Mildura as part of the Tour on Saturday, 25 November at Nowingi Place.

Councillor for Recreation and Events Mark Eckel said the Mildura billing featured the exciting return of some fan favourites as well as the first visit in many years by some of the biggest names in Australian rock music.

“This is a fantastic billing, and the way the scheduling has worked for the 2023/24 Tour means our community will be able to enjoy two Red Hot Summer Tours in just eight months without needing to travel,” Cr Eckel said.

“There are so many positives to this.

“From a community wellbeing perspective, it broadens access to the unforgettable experience of live music performed by some of our country’s most talented music acts.

“From an economic point-of-view, it represents two significant boosts for our economy in less than 12 months, injecting an estimated $3 million into our region, with crowds of about 5,000 people for each event.

“This economic benefit is spread across a broad range of sectors, taking in employment generated from staging, fencing, toilets, infrastructure hire and food vendors, many of which will be sourced locally.

“Then there’s benefits generated by the influx of visitors, including spending in local restaurants, accommodation, food and fuel.”

Red Hot Summer Tour promoter Duane McDonald said he was looking forward to bringing the tour back to Mildura following the strong support from locals and visitors in March this year.

“It was great to see the strong support from the Sunraysia community to our first Red Hot Summer Tour show in Mildura earlier this year with thousands turning out to take in some of our country’s most iconic acts,” Duane said.

“We’re excited to return again in November with a new billing and look forward to an even bigger show at Nowingi Place.”

The inclusion of Australian music legend Jimmy Barnes on the Mildura leg of the show will mark his popular return to the stage in Sunraysia.

“It’s been a long time between drinks Mildura – 10 years since I last played for you,” Barnes said.

“The Red Hot Summer Tour is bringing me back for one show in November. I can’t wait to hit the stage with this fantastic line up of my mates. Get your tickets early, this is going to be a big one.”

Cr Eckel said this year’s two Red Hot Summer Tour visits continued the string of major events in our region over the past 18 months following the SummerSalt music festival and Kings of Leon performance in 2022.

“This really cements our reputation as a region capable of successfully hosting numerous major music festivals and performances on an annual basis,” he said.

“It proves we have the venues, the supporting services and facilities, and the location to draw large crowds time and time again, reinforcing our profile as a major events destination.”

Tickets for the Mildura leg of the Red Hot Summer Tour can be purchased via Ticketmaster from Thursday 17 August, including general admission, adults and children. Children under six will be admitted free-of-charge. All patrons under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
