Regional Victoria’s first pole-mounted EV charger arrives in Horsham

Horsham is now home to regional Victoria’s first power pole-mounted electric vehicle charger, providing another convenient charging option for residents and visitors.

Powercor has installed the new charger at 126 Wilson Street, Horsham, near the skatepark, in partnership with Horsham Rural City Council.

The charger features two 22kW sockets and can charge most electric vehicles from flat to around 80 per cent in approximately four hours.

Horsham Rural City Council’s Mayor said the new technology was a welcome addition for the community.

“It’s great to see Horsham involved in this trial, providing another practical charging option for residents and visitors while helping Powercor better understand how EV charging can be delivered across regional Victoria.”

The charger is now ready to use and can be accessed through the zuup, Wevolt and Chargefox apps, with additional charging providers expected to be added.

The Horsham installation forms part of Powercor’s wider rollout of 100 pole-mounted chargers across the CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy networks. The project is designed to help understand the impact of EV charging on the electricity network and reduce barriers for people considering an electric vehicle.

Powercor will own and maintain the charging infrastructure, while customer services and billing are managed by third-party charging providers.
