Reminder: ChemClear returns to Snowy Monaro for 2022

Registrations closing Friday 28 January 2022

Registrations are now open for the next NSW ChemClear collection coming to the Snowy Monaro in March 2022. Council is encouraging our community to get their registrations in by Friday 28 January 2022 to dispose of unwanted or obsolete agvet chemicals in one easy collection.

Now in its 19th year, ChemClear is a not-for-profit initiative that aims to reduce the quantity of agvet chemicals in storage around Australia to reduce impacts on the environment, people and the economy.

Using ChemClear makes it easy for agvet chemical users to meet their obligations under any quality assurance, farm or environmental management program.

There are two groups of chemicals that can be dropped off and disposed of during ChemClear collections:

Group 1 chemicals are collected free under the program. These chemicals are currently registered agvet chemicals manufactured under the Industry Waste Reduction Stewardship initiative.

Group 2 chemicals are those chemicals that are no longer registered, unknown, unlabelled, out of date, or mixed agvet chemicals. A fee per L/kg applies for disposal unless a state government subsidy is in place.

There are only six steps to the program:

• Step 1: take an Inventory of your unwanted agvet chemicals including:

o manufacturer’s name

o product name

o container size

o number of containers

o estimation of remaining chemical in container

o container integrity

• Step 2: Register them for collection @ www.chemclear.org.au or Freecall 1800 008 182

• Step 3: Continue to store your registered chemicals safely and securely

• Step 4: ChemClear will contact you directly to advise the location of the collection point for retrieval and provide a quotation for any Group 2 chemicals registered for collection

• Step 5: Prepare chemicals for delivery to collection site

• Step 6: Deliver your chemicals to the advised collection site in your area
