On 30 July 2021, Standards Australia published Amendment 1 to SA HB 39 Installation code for metal roof and wall cladding.
The amendment removed the reference to Figure 5.7.3 in clause 5.7.3 (b) and deleted Figure 5.7.3 due to its inconsistency with AS/NZS 3500.3 Plumbing and Drainage – Part 3 Stormwater Drainage.
This amendment means that roofing practitioners installing rainheads need to ensure the rainhead is sized according to AS/NZS 3500.3 and apply the requirements of Figure 5.3.1 (a) of SA HB 39. It will no longer be acceptable to install rainheads with the configuration using the deleted Figure 5.7.3 of SA HB 39.
Any rainhead installed after 30 July 2021 that does not conform to these standards is deemed non-compliant.
Practitioners performing rainhead installations need to ensure rainheads are designed and sized to Section 3 and Appendix I of AS/NZS 3500.3 and comply with requirements of SA HB 39.
