Reminding Tasmanian businesses to get their critical support grant applications completed

Sarah Courtney,Acting Minister for Small Business

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is a strong supporter of businesses and recognises that they are the engine room of our State’s economy and the backbone of regional communities.

We are reminding small businesses across Tasmania that tomorrow is the final day for businesses to have completed and lodged their COVID-19 Micro and Small Business – Border Closure Critical Support Grant Tas applications.

So far, more than $27 million has been distributed to more than 1,600 businesses since we supercharged the grants package to $50 million. The unprecedented $70 million package also includes $20 million in financial relief for eligible businesses through waiving fees and charges such as payroll tax, vehicle registration and passenger transport accreditation fees, and license fees payable to Parks & Wildlife.

There is no greater supporters of Tasmanian businesses than the Tasmanian and Commonwealth Liberal Governments, and these supercharged grants follow the unprecedented $130 million package provided to Tasmanian businesses during the height of the pandemic.

Applications close tomorrow 8 October 2021 at 2:00 pm and full details about the program can be accessed at: www.business.tas.gov.au.

There will be a further round opening in November and on top of this, the COVID-19 Small Business Advice and Financial Guidance Program opened late last month and provides grants to eligible businesses to access specialist financial services and business support.
