Remote Area Problem Waste Collection – register and save date

To help community members in remote areas to correctly dispose of problem waste, Hawkesbury City Council is providing free waste collection events at Bilpin, Colo Heights and the Macdonald Valley.

Pre-registration is essential to attend a free problem waste collection event. Residents from these remote areas can register at hawklivingsustainably.eventbrite.com

Remote Area Problem Waste Collection Events

  • Bilpin – Saturday, 28 May from 10am to 11am at Bilpin Hall, 2596 Bells Line of Road, Bilpin
  • Colo Heights – Saturday, 4 June from 9am to 10am at Colo Heights Rural Fire Service Station,

3006 Putty Road, Colo Heights

  • St Albans – Saturday, 18 June from 9am to 10am at Bulga Street, St Albans

The service aims to provide an easy and convenient way for residents to recycle or safely dispose of household problem wastes including:

  • Paints
  • Motor oils
  • Cooking oils
  • Car Batteries
  • Household batteries
  • Gas bottles
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Smoke detectors
  • Fluoro globes and tubes.

Items not accepted include:

Flood waste, general household waste, computers and televisions, clothing, cardboard and paper.

Residents must register to drop off their problem waste. Anyone not registered will not be allowed to drop off items.

Strict size limits apply: only household quantities are accepted.

COVID-19 social distancing and safety will be ensured. Please do not attend the event if you have cold or flu like or COVID symptoms.

This project is a NSW Department of Planning and Environment, Waste Less, Recycle More initiative funded from the waste levy.

All Hawkesbury residents can make use of the Hawkesbury Community Recycling Centre at the Hawkesbury City Waste Management Facility at 1 The Driftway, South Windsor, 7 days a week. The Community Recycling Centre is a permanent drop-off centre for common household problem wastes that can’t be collected via council kerbside waste and recycling collection services. NSW householders can drop off problem wastes at these centres year round, free of charge.
