Motorists are advised that the existing school zone on Redlynch Intake Road has been removed.
Following consultation with Redlynch State College and St Andrew’s College, Council has removed the school zone to allow vehicles to proceed at 60 km/h on this section of Redlynch Intake Road.
This change could be safely made because the road does not meet the warrants for a 40 km/hr zone due to:
- The entry points for students at both schools being located away from Redlynch Intake Road.
- There is no street frontage access from Redlynch Intake Road for students attending these schools.
- The existing pedestrian/cycle pathway includes an underpass across Redlynch Intake Road and signalised crossings at Michaelangelo Drive and Jungara Road.
The removal of the school zone will assist peak hour traffic flows.
