Replica gun, cocaine seized after ute searched, NSW

A man has been charged after a replica handgun and cocaine were found following a vehicle stop in the state’s Central West yesterday.

About 7.40pm on Tuesday (5 May 2020), officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District stopped a white Toyota Hilux on the Mitchell Highway, Geurie, for the purpose of a random breath test.

The test returned a negative result; however, after further checks officers searched the vehicle, seizing cocaine and ammunition.

The 28-year-old man was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station.

Following further inquiries, officers executed search warrants at homes in Bultje and Argyle streets in Dubbo between 9.30pm and 10.55pm on Tuesday (5 May 2020), where a replica handgun, a can of OC spray and drug paraphernalia were seized.

The man has been charged with possess an unauthorised firearm, supply prohibited drug, and possess prohibited drug.

He has been bail refused to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Wednesday 6 May 2020).
