The Australian Government, through the Indo-Pacific Centre for Health Security (CHS) within the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), is requesting Activity Proposals for partnership grants under the Pacific Infectious Disease Prevention (PIDP) program.
The PIDP Program is a component of the $300 million, five-year Health Security Initiative for the Indo-Pacific region managed by CHS.
Total funding allocated to the PIDP program is $25 million over three years from July 2019 to June 2022.
This request is for Activity Proposals to address health security issues in Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste and priority Pacific island countries (any of Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Nauru, Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands and Niue).

Background
The Australian Government’s Health Security Initiative for the Indo-Pacific region, launched on 8 October 2017, contributes to the avoidance and containment of infectious disease threats with the potential to cause social and economic harms on a national, regional or global scale. In 2018, as part of the Initiative’s foundational work, scoping missions to countries of Southeast Asia and the Pacific were conducted. The missions reported on the state of health security in the region and provided recommendations for investments. Between October and December 2018, the Centre convened a series of six domestic consultative workshops. Participants in these workshops were invited to discuss key health security issues and suggest directions and priorities to strengthen health security in the region.
