Two East Arnhem region employers have been nominated by their reservist employees for recognition in the 2023 Northern Territory/Kimberley Employer Support Awards.
Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation and Dhimurru Aboriginal Corporation, both based in Nhulunbuy, were nominated in the ‘Not for Profit’ category for this year’s award, which recognises leading employers for their support to their ADF reservists.
Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation won the 2023 Not for Profit category and will be representing the Northern Territory at the 2023 National Employer Support Awards later in the year.
Employers of ADF reservists release their employees for periods of Defence service, including compulsory call-outs to assist with natural disasters and emergency operations.
In the Northern Territory and Kimberley, reservists are often called to assist with border protection, as part of Operation Resolute.
Deputy Head Joint Support Services Division Air Commodore Grant Pinder said the awards showcased employers that demonstrated outstanding support to their staff who undertake ADF service.
“Across the Territory and Kimberley regions, we have approximately 1000 ADF reservists who contribute vital skills and capability to the defence of our nation – participating in various operations such as Operation Resolute,” Air Commodore Pinder said.
“It is wonderful to see employers recognised for their contributions, ensuring they provide supportive workplaces that allow the ADF to operate at full capability and be responsive to events and support the local community and our national interests.
“We have an exceptionally highly skilled and dynamic workforce in the Territory and Kimberley regions, and the work they undertake would not be possible without the support of their employers.
“Congratulations to all those nominated, and to those winners, we look forward to seeing the Territory and Kimberley regions represented at the national awards in Sydney this November.”
