Residents to help shape Irymple’s future at Mildura

Irymple residents are invited to play an important role in helping to shape the future of their town by providing input into Council’s Irymple Structure Plan and Urban Design Framework Review 2020.

The project aims to provide long-term vision and action plans for Irymple, which will guide how the town develops, including future land use, built form and public spaces. It will focus on the area bounded by Sandilong and Morpung Avenues and Fourteenth and Sixteenth Streets.

The study will include creation of a new town centre plan, providing clear actions for public realm improvements, which encompass the majority of everyday public spaces residents use to socialise, play, work, travel or exercise.

As part of the first stage of the project, Council would like to hear from Irymple residents and visitors regarding what is important and valued, and what they want the town vision to be.

Online survey

An online survey will open from Monday 7 September to Friday 18 September. The survey can be accessed by visiting Council’s Have Your Say page at www.mildura.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay.

Online Community Workshop

An online Community Workshop will be held on Wednesday 16 September from 6pm to 7.30pm. Details on how to register for the workshop are on Council’s Have Your Say page.

The new Irymple Structure Plan will better accommodate the changes and growth in the town since the previous plan was created in 2012.

These changes include new commercial and residential areas, changes to state and local planning policies and updated strategies which identify changes to growth patterns in the municipality.

The new structure plan will also be used to update relevant aspects of the Mildura Planning Scheme, which will help ensure the best economic, social and environmental outcomes for the Irymple area for the next 15 years.
