Apricot chicken has once again made it into the top four best-selling Easy Meal Kits at the City of Playford’s Healthy Food Co.
Conveniently located in Smithfield Plains and Elizabeth Downs, Healthy Food Co. has been selling low-cost, healthy meals packs for nearly 30 years. Just one Easy Meal kit feeds a family of four for $15 and under with some as low as $7.
Like all the Easy Meal kits, apricot chicken comes with all the ingredients you need, including the key component of apricot nectar. The retro classic contends with other homely comfort foods in the top four, such as chow mein, tomato macaroni and curried sausages.
Mayor Glenn Docherty said Easy Meal kits is one way Council is supporting healthy and happy communities, providing no-fuss and delicious meal options, no matter your skill level in the kitchen.
“Through the Healthy Food Co., the City of Playford offers the community easy access to fresh fruits, vegetables and wholesome family meals,” said Mayor Docherty.
“We have many long-time shoppers who love these comfort meals and who pick out these classic kits each week.”
In-store you can pick from a free fruit and vegetable stand, which rotates its offerings based on the availability of fresh produce. Additionally, you can receive a loaf of bread with your purchase.
Healthy Food Co. also offers a variety of snack packs for just $2.50, which includes a piece of fruit, a savoury option and a bottle of water – the perfect addition to lunchboxes!
Easy Meal kits can be ordered and paid online through the City of Playford website and picked up outside of operating hours at the John McVeity Centre in Smithfield Plains.
“Just place your order online and choose a convenient pickup location. We’ve found that some people prefer this method, especially with the growing popularity of online grocery shopping. It also provides broader access to our products beyond our regular store operating hours,” said the Mayor.
