Ride share driver robbed in Punchbowl

Police are seeking help from the public to identify a man who allegedly robbed a ride share driver in Sydney’s south-west.

About 6.40am today (Monday 25 May 2020), the 29-year-old driver picked up a fare in Cullens Road, Punchbowl.

A man jumped in the back seat and accused the driver of being late in picking him up. An argument ensued, with the driver demanding the man get out of the car.

The man reached forward and punched the driver in the face a number of times. The man then grabbed a dash mounted camera and left on foot. The driver then contacted police.

The driver was not seriously injured during the incident.

The man was last seen walking in a northerly direction on Cullens Road, Punchbowl, towards Canterbury Road.

Officers from Campsie Police Area Command have commenced an investigation into the robbery.

Police are appealing to anyone who might have been in the area of Cullens Road Punchbowl this morning and might have dash-cam footage of the man, to come forward.

The man is described as Middle Eastern in appearance, 20-25 old, 170-175cm tall, slim to medium build, short black hair and a beard. He was wearing yellow safety boots, an orange fluro work shirt and dark pants.
