Rifle hidden in kitchen compartment, $10,000 and knuckle dusters seized in Toongabbie

A man will face court today charged over alleged firearm possession and drug supply in Sydney’s west.

Last month, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad commenced an investigation into alleged drug supply in Greater Western Sydney.

Following inquiries, Raptor Squad officers – with the assistance of the Police Dog Unit – executed a search warrant at a home on Toongabbie Road, Toongabbie, about 6am yesterday (Thursday 5 January 2023).

During the search, police located a rifle hidden inside a concealed compartment in the kitchen.

Officers also located and seized more than $10,000 in cash, ammunition, knuckle dusters with a flick knife attached, cocaine, mobile phones and fireworks. All items will undergo further forensic examination.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Granville Police Station.

He was charged with nine offences, including use, supply, acquire or possess defaced firearm, possess unauthorised firearm, possess ammunition without holding permit, possess or use prohibited firearm without permit, possess, supply or make explosive for unlawful purpose, supply prohibited drug, organises/conducts etc drug premises expose child, and deal with property proceeds of crime.

The Toongabbie man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court later today (Friday 6 January 2023).
