A 40-year-old man has been disqualified from driving and charged with drink driving after being caught more than four times the limit on Thursday morning.
Inspector Nick Clark said the man was intercepted by officers from Northern Road Policing Services conducting road safety patrols leading into the long wekend.
“His vehicle was observed to swerve on Frankford Road at Exeter, and after being pulled over by police he returned a breath analysis reading of 0.217” he said.
“Police have been conducting a range of road safety activities over the long weekend, including a roadside breath testing site checking people leaving the Panama Festival at Golconda this morning.”
“Unfortunately one person was caught drink driving, and two drivers returned positive drug tests.”
“Disappointingly we also caught three other people drink driving and 44 people speeding over the weekend, 10 people were caught not wearing a seatbelt correctly, three people were caught illegally using their mobile phones while driving, and three others were caught driving without a valid licence.”
