Robbery with violence appeal at Rockhampton

Detectives are appealing for public assistance regarding an ongoing investigation into a robbery with violence at Rockhampton on Sunday morning (October 17).

About 7.30am, police were called to a hotel on George street after a child and elderly woman were injured when a man stole their vehicle from the carpark.

The man approached the eight-year-old child who was placing items into the vehicle’s boot, pushing the child to the ground and taking the keys.

The elderly woman attempted to intervene and became involved in a struggle with the man before the vehicle was stolen and driven the wrong way down George Street.

The child and woman were taken to hospital for treatment of shock and minor injuries.

The vehicle was located damaged this morning at Beasley Street, Frenchville.

The man is described as Aboriginal in appearance, mid 20’s, approximately 158cm tall with a proportionate build. He has long black curly hair and brown eyes.

He may be in the company of a woman, described as Aboriginal in appearance, mid 20s, approximately 160cm tall with a proportionate build. She has long black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information of their whereabouts is urged to contact police immediately.

Anyone who may have seen the vehicle, a White 2017 Hyandai Tuscon – Queensland registration 739XKJ, being driven from the scene or across Rockhampton over the weekend is urged to contact police with or without dashcam vision.
