Robbery with violence at Helensvale, QLD

Police are investigating the alleged robbery of a 12-year-old boy at Helensvale last night.

Around 6.30pm, the boy was at a train station when he was approached by four boys and a girl, who was known to him.

The 12-year-old has run to a nearby taxi rank where he entered a taxi.

The four boys allegedly dragged him from the taxi and assaulted him, before stealing his shoes and attempting to steal his mobile phone.

One of the juveniles then fled into nearby bushland, while the other four boarded a train.

The boy sustained a fractured jaw, chipped tooth and grazing.

He was transported home by family-friends, before his grandmother transported him to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

Investigations are ongoing.
