Robbery with violence at Rockhampton

Police are investigating a violent robbery during which a man’s car was stolen early this morning in Rockhampton.

Around 2am, a man was seated in his parked silver 2009 Toyota Aurion in Kern Arcade when he was approached by a man who opened the vehicle door and attempted to remove him from the vehicle.

A struggle ensued resulting in the driver being threatened with a knife before he fled from his vehicle.

The stolen vehicle was driven from the scene but located by police burnt out in the Gladstone area at around 6am.

The 76-year-old driver of the vehicle received minor injuries only as a result of the incident.

Police are looking for a man described as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, 170cm tall, aged in his mid to late twenties, full black beard and wearing a black hooded jumper and long black pants.

Police are appealing to any members of the public who may have witnessed this offence or have information in relation to the identify of the male person to contact police.
