Rockliff admits he’s elitist gatekeeper 23 October 2023

Tas Labor

Premier Jeremy Rockliff has admitted the Liberals’ decision to charge $15 to access Cradle Mountain is nothing more than an elitist disincentive for visitation.

By saying the decision was made to stop Tasmania from being “loved to death”, he’s confessed he’s willing to put a cover charge to keep our national parks for those who can afford to enter.

Tasmania’s national parks are state treasures which we should all be proud of and encouraged to enjoy.

Being able to easily access our national parks and experience all they have to offer is part what makes our lifestyle so special.

Tasmanians don’t need a government and Premier that acts as an elitist gatekeeper to keep locals out.

The Rockliff Government must revisit this decision to ensure this world-class experience remains available to all Tasmanians.
