Ross Ready To Take On World

NSW Nationals

Nationals Member for Coffs Harbour, Gurmesh Singh, has congratulated local automotive technology student Ross Colquhoun, who’s been chosen to compete later this year at the WorldSkills International Championships in France.

Ross is among nine TAFE NSW students who will showcase their skills to the rest of the world in September as members of Australia’s 2024 Skillaroos.

Mr Singh said Ross will be an outstanding representative for the Coffs Coast and his country.

“I know Ross is looking forward to testing his skills against competitors from around the globe,” said Mr Singh, the Shadow Minister for Tourism, Emergency Services, and the North Coast.

“WorldSkills will provide Ross with unique learning opportunities – his selection for the national team speaks volumes of his dedication to his course and the high-quality support he enjoys from his TAFE teachers and his employer, A1 Mobile Mechanical Services.

“We’re extremely proud of Ross as he prepares to represent the Coffs Coast with distinction and I wish him and his fellow Skillaroos every success in France.”

Ross said the exposure and recognition that WorldSkills has given him will be life-changing.

“I could never have reached this level without the world-class training from TAFE NSW and so many other industry professionals,” Ross said.

The WorldSkills International Championships have, since 1950, united vocational apprentices and trainees from around the world in competition in their respective disciplines.
