Routine intercept uncovers drugs at Southbank servo

Public Order Response Team and Melbourne Divisional Response Unit officers have uncovered an array of drugs, weapons and cash as a result of a routine intercept in Southbank on Sunday night.

Officers intercepted a vehicle at a service station on the corner of City Road and Clarendon Street just after 7pm.

The driver was observed trying to put something down his pants and was subsequently searched where it is alleged a quantity of methylamphetamine, and heroin was located.

A search warrant was executed on Monday morning at a Fitzroy address where it is alleged methylamphetamine, heroin, prescription drugs, weapons, fake licenses, tools and cash were located and seized.

The 42-year-old Fitzroy man has been charged with a number of drug and weapons offences.

He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on today.
