South Australia Police and the Police RSL today unveiled a new memorial on the Pathway of Honour in the city, ahead of ANZAC day next weekend.
The memorial honours police employees who lost their lives while serving during war and peace keeping duties, along with those who served, or continue to serve in the Australian Defence Force or as Peacekeepers.
Commissioner of Police Grant Stevens, who is patron of the Police RSL said the memorial was erected after the Police RSL obtained funds through the Department for Veterans’ Affairs for a ‘Saluting Their Service Commemorative’ Grant.
The annual South Australia Police ANZAC Memorial Service was held in memory of serving South Australia Police Officers who died on active service for Australia during World War I, World War II, and on United Nations peace keeping duties in Cyprus.
The event was also attended by Minister for Police Vincent Tarzia and Shadow Minister for Police Lee Odenwalder along with other dignitaries.
