SA Police celebrates International Women’s Day

This Sunday, 8 March, is International Women’s Day and SA Police is celebrating all our inspirational and dedicated women at all levels of the organisation.

With a theme of #EachforEqual encouraging everyone to take action for equality, we acknowledge women’s achievement and raise awareness against bias.

International Women’s Day also serves as a reminder of the SAPOL commitment to increase the representation of women.

“We are ensuring women see policing as a legitimate career option so that our police service reflects the community we serve,” says Commissioner of Police Grant Stevens.

“We are continuing to identify and remove barriers to employment and promotion for women and have enacted a number of equity and diversity strategies that aim to build a positive and diverse workplace.

“SAPOL has employed women police officers for over 100 years and were the first to have equal pay; this shows our history of embracing and driving organisational change to create a safe and inclusive workplace.

“Female officers span all levels of SA Police, from senior management and specialist positions to frontline patrols. And we’re always looking for more talented women to join our team.”
