Safety Ticket For Terrace Road

Road safety measures for Terrace Road are now in place thanks to the City’s quick response to community concerns.

Consultation in early 2023 identified a number of opportunities to improve road safety and pedestrian access along Terrace Road.

Safety improvements and traffic calming measures have now been installed between Plain Street and Hill Street, including 9 new raised plateaus, a number of islands that assist pedestrian crossings, and footpath extensions and improved sight lines for driveways.

Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said businesses and local residents will benefit from reduced speeds, improved visibility at intersections and driveways, and from improved access for pedestrians.

“This project came about because our Terrace Road residents were concerned about speeding traffic. This is a busy built-up residential area with lots of cars in and out of driveways and pedestrians crossing the road to go to Langley Park,” Mr Zempilas said.

“The combination of speed bumps and traffic calming islands will make this a much safer road in our City.”

The project cost $650,000 and was funded under the Australian Government Black Spot Program.
