The second annual Savour the Flavour Hawkesbury was a resounding success, with 12,000 eager visitors from across Sydney making the journey to Richmond Oval on Saturday 14 October 2023.
Savour the Flavour Hawkesbury is a celebration of locally grown and produced fresh produce, food and beverages, championing Hawkesbury’s past and present as the original ‘food bowl’ of Sydney.
Visitors sampled and purchased goods from more than 40 market stalls featuring the best in Hawkesbury food and drink, as well as enjoying Leonardo da Vino and Secret Garden workshops, cooking demonstrations, an apple pie eating contest, live music, carnival rides and a relaxed picnic atmosphere in the heart of Richmond’s historic CBD.
Hawkesbury City Mayor Sarah McMahon said she was blown away by how enthusiastically Savour the Flavour has been embraced by locals and visitors alike.
“Savour the Flavour Hawkesbury has quickly established itself as one of the Hawkesbury’s premiere events, sitting alongside the ever-popular Light Up Windsor as one of the biggest events this Council holds,” Mayor McMahon said.
“As I walked around Richmond Oval, there was an amazing buzz and energy – people not just enjoying the delicious food and beverages on a beautiful October evening but also discovering what the Hawkesbury has to offer.
“We are really pleased to be able to not only provide an event that locals and visitors love, but that also supports local businesses and food producers.
“I can’t wait to see what we cook up for Savour the Flavour Hawkesbury in 2024.”
