A sawn-off shotgun, meat cleaver, drugs and counterfeit cash have been seized when two men were arrested in Sydney’s west yesterday.
At 8.45am (Tuesday 16 July 2019), a stolen car was recovered in a townhouse car park in Rooty Hill by officers from the Mt Druitt Police Area Command.
During a search of the vehicle, officers seized a sawn-off 12-gauge shotgun and ammunition.
Police allege when the driver and passenger of the stolen vehicle were arrested and searched, prohibited drugs, a meat cleaver and more shotgun cartridges were found.
Following further inquiries, police searched a Rooty Hill home and seized prohibited drugs, along with an electronic stun device, counterfeit money, knives and swords.
A 27-year-old Sutherland man has been charged with larceny, driving a motor vehicle while disqualified, possession of shortened firearm and ammunition, as well as possession of stolen goods and prohibited drugs. He was also charged with carrying a cutting weapon, participating in a criminal group, demand property in company with menaces, common assault, entering enclosed lands, and take and drive conveyance.
A 37-year-old Rooty Hill man has been charged with possession of prohibited drugs (x3), dealing with proceeds of crime, goods in custody, use of a prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition, and possession of counterfeit money.
Both are due to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court today (Wednesday 17 July 2019).
