Sayers road contract awarded

Wyndham City has awarded a $5 million contract for the rehabilitation of Sayers Road, between Tarneit Road and Reflections Boulevard.

Negri Contractors (Vic) Pty Ltd was awarded the contract at last night’s Council meeting.

The rehabilitation of Sayers Road is one of Council’s largest road projects this year.

The project is designed to repair the failing road pavement and involves the removal, recycling and replacement of road pavement, new asphalt surfacing, localised kerb and channel repair and minor drainage repairs.

The project will be undertaken in several stages and traffic will be switched onto opposite carriageways with one lane in each direction. Road users can expect traffic delays during the works program.

The intersections at Sandleford Way, Penrose Promenade, Crossway Avenue and Reflections Boulevard will be closed at different points during the construction period. Detours will be in place.

Wyndham City Mayor Cr Peter Maynard said: “The rehabilitation works will make Sayers Road smoother, safer and more enjoyable for motorists to use.”

Construction is expected to begin in June and conclude in November. Works will be performed in several stages with all traffic transferred to a single lane in each direction.

The rehabilitation works will mostly follow standard operating hours.

“We ask residents to plan ahead and allow for traffic delays in the area,” Cr Maynard said. “There will be highly visible signage marking detours throughout the works area.”

“We’ll be working closely with our contractor to make sure your journey is as safe and hassle-free as possible, but please plan ahead and be patient while these important works are being carried out.”

Wyndham City recently completed a $5 million rehabilitation of Sneydes Road as part of its $12 million road reconstruction and resurfacing program.
