Scooby Doo star of Riverway Movie Night

Council’s always popular Riverway Movie Nights returns this Friday (May 19) at 6:30pm with a free screening of animated hit Scoob!.

Featuring an open-air cinema under the stars and food trucks at Riverway Oval, Council runs these family-friendly events on the third Friday of every month.

With the weather starting to cool down families can pack a blanket and head down to Riverway to watch Scooby Doo and the gang face their most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world.

As they race to stop this dogpocalypse, the gang discovers that Scooby has an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said Riverway Movie nights are a great night out and a free event to be enjoyed by all members of the community.

“You can bring the kids along, bring your own popcorn or other treats and a picnic blanket to enjoy the open-air cinema,” Cr Greaney said.

“It’s a relaxed movie night where you can enjoy time with family or friends under the stars to kick off the weekend.

“This free event is really well supported by young people in Townsville and through this and other Council-run events and initiatives the youth of our city have an opportunity to connect with the wider community.”

Council is pleased to present this event, with free entry for everyone and food and drinks available from food trucks at the oval.

Over the past 12 months Council has delivered over 60 inclusive events for the community, including events like the seniors’ lunches, Anzac Day, NAFA, Carols by Candlelight and Townsville Eats, while working to attract a range of additional events for Townsville residents.
