Applications are now open for the 2023 WA Innovator of the Year awards, with an extra $80,000 in prize money across six categories.

Established in 2006, the WA Innovator of the Year awards celebrate and reward the State’s brightest talent for creating new products, technology or services in the early stages of development.

In 2022, medtech company Neurotologix was named Overall Winner for developing a remote patient monitoring device for dizziness and vertigo.

Three months after being named the WA Innovator of the Year, Neurotologix was recognised with a $787,000 Accelerating Commercialisation grant from the Australian Government.

Supported by the McGowan Government’s $16.7 million New Industries Fund, the Innovator of the Year program helps drive diversification of the State’s economy and the creation of new jobs by identifying and supporting the acceleration of emerging and growing innovative businesses.

The total prize pool in 2023 is $220,000 across six categories, including $100,000 for the overall Innovator of the Year.

All finalists for the 2023 WA Innovator of the Year awards will receive complimentary business commercialisation training workshops across a number of months to help take their innovation to the next level, as well as video and photographic services.

Finalists will be announced in August, with the winners to be announced at an awards ceremony held on 21 November.

Innovators from across the State are encouraged to apply. Applications close at 11am AWST on Friday, 9 June. For more information and to apply, visit https://www.wa.gov.au/IOTY
